Portland Public Schools could close up to 14 schools after losing a tenth of its students since 2017
Portland Public Schools released two plans that would close 14 or 11 schools starting in fall 2027, plus a third option to change nothing. The district's own schools enrolled 40,589 students in 2024-25, down 10.3% from 2017-18. The board is expected to vote in December.
