Back-to-school shopping is pushing more parents into debt
The average family with K-12 kids plans to spend about $864 on back-to-school shopping this year, and clothes and shoes cost more than the supply list itself. The bill lands all at once, in summer, and surveys show many parents are taking on debt or cutting groceries to cover it.
